A search operation for an individual reportedly swept from rocks while fishing has been called off. The coordinated response by HM Coastguard came after an incident was reported at Trearddur Bay, Anglesey, on Saturday.
The search involved the deployment of a helicopter and RNLI lifeboats and resumed early on Sunday. However, despite extensive efforts, no trace of the missing person was found, leading to the conclusion of the search.
In addition to HM Coastguard's involvement, the assistance of Holyhead, Moelfre, and Rhosneigr coastguard rescue teams, as well as the Welsh Ambulance Service and North Wales Police, was requested. The challenging search took place amidst rough seas and strong winds, testing the skills and determination of the rescue teams.
Andy Hodgson, spokesperson for Trearddur Bay lifeboat station, confirmed that crews were alerted at 19:05 BST on Saturday to reports of an individual being swept off rocks while fishing. Both inshore lifeboats tirelessly combed the area until midnight, resuming their efforts again at first light on Sunday, commencing at 05:30.
Throughout the incident, Ravens Point in Trearddur Bay was the focal point of concern, with police describing it as a "serious police incident currently ongoing." As the search operations intensified, the public was requested, via X (Twitter), to refrain from attending the area. The presence of onlookers could potentially hinder the complex and critical rescue efforts underway.
